Troubleshooting Powermanager
The following section describes some of the troubleshooting scenarios in Powermanager.

The system is found to contain WinCC OA licenses. You can transfer the licenses (or delete trial licenses) and start the installation again. Refer to the product manual for more details. | There is a license in the SYSTEMDRIVE\AX NF ZZ folder. | Delete the license in case of trail license or transfer the license. |
Powermanager runs in demo/courtesy mode. | You log into the application and the courtesy/demo mode appears in summary bar. | Check if the customer has the proper license in the LMU (License management utility). The converted units from Powermanager are not refreshed in the device graphics (default tab in Operating mode). | The converted unit from the device was changed and the user moved to the default tab in Operating mode. | Click the graphics page and press ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+O. Click Clear symbol cache in the new window. Navigate to the graphics node in system tree. Navigate back to the device node. |
The Powermanager login screen does not load. | The project is not running properly or the closed mode service is not running. | Make sure that project and Siemens GMS closed mode service run properly. |
Certificate error when trying to launch the web application on IE remote machine. | This can appear when opening Powermanager as a client in a browser. | Make sure that the certificates on the client computer are configured correctly. |
Managers do not run properly on the installed client machine. | Powermanager is installed as a client but there is a time difference between server and client. | Synchronize the system time of client and server. |
SEM3 devices do not communicate with Powermanager. | The Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) setting on the Windows Server 2012 R2/Windows Server 2016 is enabled. Disable the ECN setting to work with SEM3 devices. | To disable the ECN setting, perform the following: - Open Command Prompt and run the below command to check the status of the ECN setting: - If ECN capability is set to enabled, then run the below command in Command Prompt to disable the ECN setting: |
| If the number of devices created exceeds the number of permitted devices by the purchased Powermanager license pack, the system goes into courtesy mode. Deleting the excess devices does not move the system to power mode. | Restart the license related control manager in WinCC OA console.

| Existing third party device offsets are lost after upgrade. | 1. For existing impacted third party devices, manually set the Offset on device level in following way: Go to ManagementView > FieldNetwork > Modubus_GPM_Netwrok > Select the Device > navigate to primary pane > click the bubble icon and select Extended Operation and Set proper Offset in the text filed. 2. To create new devices for existing third party device types, Overwrite the third party device Type in Powermanager by re-importing the JSON file, and then create new devices. All the new consequent devices will have the offset set as per selection done in tool. |

| Last recorded value is continuously stored in the database after disconnecting the device. | Time based smoothing is enable and the device is disconnected from the system manually. Perform the below step to stop this: Reconnect the device to the system.

Connection is not available with given SQL server instance. Possible reasons may be: − Remote SQL Server is not started. − Remote SQL Server is not accessible. − Remote SQL Server is not configured to allow remote connections. − Remote SQL Server does not support encrypted connections. − Remote SQL Server instance is not provided with fully qualified domain name. | When the PC name is changed after the SQL installation. OR When restoring a project from an earlier version without unlinking the Notification DB. |

The system drive storage is getting filled up by the logs from Microsoft IIS for every web request and response, leading to insufficient storage in the future. | Typically, IIS logs all success and error messages for any web request-responses. If the IIS logging feature is enabled in Windows, all IIS messages will be logged, eventually filling up the system drive over time. | To avoid system drive storage consumption by IIS logs, it is recommended to delete the IIS logs manually and disable the IIS logging feature for the Powermanager website.

In the Flex Client, the PQ Analytics data is not displayed for 1 or 2 days. | This might be due to an abrupt stoppage in downloading the files required to display data in the Flex Client. | To view the PQ Analytics data in Flex Client, try restarting the project in SMC and logging into the Flex Client again. Monitor the progress for two days. If the issue persists, contact the Customer Care team for support. |
