Connect to NK823x in Emergency Mode

To connect to the NK823x unit for the first time, you must use a default IP address. To do this requires putting the NK823x in emergency mode.

  1. Depending on the selected Ethernet port on the NK823x, temporarily set the TCP/IP properties of the Desigo CC network adapter to let the computer operate on the following IP address:
    - NK823x port 1: 192.168.9.xx, with xx being for example 1 (not 41)
    - NK823x port 1: 192.168.10.xx, with xx being for example 1 (not 41)
  1. Remove the cover of the NK823x unit (press the 4 white tabs to the rear of the left and right sides of the unit and lift gently).
  1. Set to ON the DIP switch relating to the Ethernet port connected to the management station:
    - DIP switch 1: Ethernet port 1 (default IP address: 192.168.9.41).
    - DIP switch 2: Ethernet port 2 (default IP address: 192.168.10.41).
For details, see NK823x Internal Jumpers and DIP Switches.
  1. Press the Reset button S1.
  • The NK823x restarts.
  1. Check the download LED for the FTP connection: when the FTP connection is open in default mode (default IP address), the LED flashes 3 times. For details see NK823x Status LEDs.
  1. In System Browser, select Project > Field Networks > [BACnet Network] > [NK823x].
  1. In the Extended Operation tab, select Emergency Mode and click Enable.
  • Desigo CC can communicate with the NK823x at the default IP address. You can now check the firmware and kernel versions, and download the NK823x configuration from the management station or from a service computer.
NOTE: You will set back the DIP switches to OFF and replace the NK8223x cover after the download procedures.
